United Nations : Expressing concern over the increasing impediments to the delivery of food and medical assistance to civilians in the war-torn Syria, the UN Security Council demanded that Syria ease the access points to help over 13.5 million civilians.

The UNSC accused the terror outfits IS, Al-Nusra Front and other al-Qaida associates of hindering aid deliveries. "Acute malnouri- shment and disease is prevalent, and yet nothing seems to create a sense of urgency in dealing with these requests by the U.N. on the part of the Syrian government," US Ambassador to UN Samantha Power said.

The U.N. is appealing for nearly USD 3.2 billion to assist the 13.5 million needy Syrians inside the country in 2016.
