Hyderabad: Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya on Saturday contended that Small and Medium Industries (SMEs) were the backbone of the manufacturing base of the nation besides helping in generating employment to millions.

He also hailed the stellar nation-building exercise the sector was rendering while inaugurating the two-day National SME Conference GoNat at HICC here. Over 800 entrepreneurs drawn across diverse SME verticals like e-commerce, F&B, Textile & Garments, Retail, IT, ITES and Organic Farming based all over the country are participating in the event that is aimed at bringing the fraternity together for mutual cooperation in the future.

Executive Directors (BNI heads) of Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi, Cochin, Goa, Pune and Visakhapatnam are also attending this prestigious event. Bharat Shah, Executive Director, BNI Hyderabad, said, “India is going through a great time and especially SMEs are helping to accelerate India’s economic growth and ushering in of the biggest entrepreneurial revolution.

BNI has facilitated many SMEs establish right contacts, including 1500 women entrepreneurs.”Around 140 stalls have been put up by the participants that will be open to the public on Sunday.
