Ongole: To improve diagnostic services in the government hospitals, the State government would rope in a private organisation from January 1, 2016 to ensure all tests are done free of costs across the State, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas has said.

The Minister was here at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) on Sunday to inaugurate new blocks constructed for the benefit of men and women senior residents and interns. He also inaugurated a new canteen block and served food to patients, provided by the Satya Sai Seva Samithi at free of cost.
Speaking on the occasion, he said: “Currently, we have about Rs. 500 crore worth infrastructure in government hospitals in the State. But, infrastructure worth RS 200 crore is in the need of repair. So we want to rope in some private organizations to make them efficient,” he said.
To decrease infant and mother mortality rates in the State, he said the State government would introduce a call centre for the purpose. Besides, a new scheme titled ‘Talli Bidda Express’ would be launched soon, wherein a free service would be provided by hospitals to drop both mother and child at home after delivery. He also promised a platelet counting machine by March for RIMS Ongole for treating dengue.
He called upon doctors to maintain the standard of government in such a way that even VIP opt them over corporate hospitals. He also appealed to people at large to join their hands to improve the facilities in government.
