Warangal: Tension prevailed for some time due to a flash protest by the public at the District Collectorate in Hanamkonda on Monday over the officials’ denial to accept applications for double bed-room houses (2BHK) during ‘Prajavani’.

Large number of public turned up at the Collectorate seeking 2BHK being offered by the State government to the poorer sections and to submit applications for the same during the weekly Prajavani programme chaired by the DRO, K Shoba.
The officials refused to take the applications as selection and allotment of houses was supposed to be made by a committee comprising MLAs and chaired by the district Minister. The officials explained that they can’t take the applications and these applications have to submitted at select wards and gram sabhas but the applicants were not in a mood to listen.
Following which the police entered the scene and dispersed the applicants who gathered outside the Collectorate. They started arguing with the police demanding receiving of the applications. Later the police and some officials have collected all the applications to pacify the applicants.
It might be noted that District Collector V Karuna already issued a statement on December 22 informing the applicants that applications for 2BHK will not be accepted during Prajavani.
