Come New Year, the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) is all set to begin the Solid Waste Management System on the lines of the model from Panaji, Goa.

Announcing the same, Chief Executive Officer of SCB, Sujatha Gupta, said on Tuesday, “We have purchased five dumper placers vehicles at Rs 80 lakh and about 100 Iron Bins at Rs 33 lakh, which are in the process of delivery. These will be placed on the main roads in all the eight wards in SCB limits.”

The Dumper Placers will pick up the garbage and dispose at the designated places for segregation. In addition, residents will be given colour-coded recyclable bags for segregation of wastes and bins will also be placed in colonies for the same.

The CEO appealed the residents to cooperate in maintaining the cleanliness and cautioned the people against violating the rules of garbage dumping. “Violators will be fined between Rs 500 to Rs 5,000 depending on the seriousness and gravity of the situation,” cautioned Sujatha Gupta.
