Nizamabad: Students belonging to the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarti Parishad (ABVP) burnt the effigy of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the dharna chowk in the town on Wednesday protesting against the non-release of fee reimbursements and scholarships in the Telangana State. The ABVP students staged their protest raising slogans against TRS state government and KCR. Addressing the gathering, ABVP leader Ramesh said that the TRS government was claiming that the State government has sufficient budget, but not releasing funds.
He said that the Chief Minister released funds for organizing Iftar parties and Bathukamma festivals but not to the students.
Ramesh demanded the government to immediately release the pending scholarships and fee reimbursement amounts. Otherwise, the ABVP would intensify their struggle against the State government and besiege the Collectorates on January 7, he warned.
In Banswada, members of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a dharna before the NSL Degree College at Someswar village in Banswada mandal on Wednesday demanding immediate release of scholarships to the students.
District co-convener of ABVP Hanumandlu Yadav addressing the students said that the students played a major role in the agitation for separate Telangana.
In spite of their sacrifices, the students were not paid scholarships for the last three years, he lamented demanding immediate payment of scholarships. The traffic came to standstill on both the sides of the main road, as the students staged rasta roko.
