Congress opposes redesigning of Pranahita Chevella works

Kamareddy (Nizamabad): Leader of the Congress Legislative Party leader K Jana Reddy demanded the State government to immediately stop the Pranahita-Chevella redesigning works and take up the 22-package works in the Nizamabad district, which supplies irrigated water to 1.56 lakh acres at Kamareddy and Ramayampet Revenue divisions in the district.
Jana Reddy said that the Congress would continue to wage a massive struggle jointly with other political parties till the Central and State governments take up the 22 packages work for the Pranahita-Chevella project immediately.
Addressing a public meeting at Padmajiwada village of Sadashivnagar in the district on Tuesday, Reddy urged the people belonging to all the sections of the society to join in the struggle for taking up the Chevella-Pranahita project works.
Jana Reddy said that unless the people take up the struggle seriously on the lines similar to the Telangana Statehood struggle and bring pressure on the governments, the works relating to the Pranahita-Chevella project would not be taken up He said that the policies of the TRS government were not leading towards golden Telangana, but, instead, badly hurting the interests of the Telangana people.
He said the Congress formed the Telangana State after taking into consideration, the opinion of the local people but the TRS government was playing a cruel joke on them by taking decisions without consulting them, He said that the 22 package works of the Pranahita-Chevella Project-were the best example for TRS dictatorial policies, he added.
The Congress leader said that their party raised the issue of Pranahita-Chevella-22 package works in the State Assembly and put pressure on the State government to immediately start the works in the Kamareddy region. He criticised the TRS government for closing the Nizam Deccan Sugars Limited and throwing the farmers and workers on the streets.
Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Congress leader of Opposition in Council said that the TRS government was taking improper decisions on Pranahita-Chevella project, It decided to complete the 20 and 21 package works but kept the 22 package works pending.
Shabbir said that it was wrong on the part of the TRS government to release water from Kaleshwara dam instead of the Sri Ram Sagar project; He said that in Nizamabad district, the Pranahita-Chevella 20 and 21 packages works have already been completed.
If the State government completes another 16 km works, the Kamareddy and Ramayampet constituencies could get water for irrigating nearly 1.56 lakh acres, he added.
He urged the farmers and members of all political parties to fight against the TRS government to take up and complete the 22 package works in Pranahita-Chevella project.
