The Superintendent of Police said that the cases relating to crime against women have also come down to 1,345 in 2015 from 1,537 in 2014 due to the effective functioning of SHE teams in the district.
Contrary to this, rape cases have increased to 125 in 2015 from 124 in 2014. Crime against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were also brought down to 201 in 2015 from 251 in 2014 by issuing suitable directions to DSPs to investigate the cases expeditiously soon after reporting of the case.
Duggal said that the district police had also arrested 42 members of 10 criminal gangs, which were involved in thefts of gold ornaments, house burgling and attention diversion incidents. Above all, the Janakipuram encounter, in which two most wanted terrorists were eliminated was the greatest achievement of the district police this year, the SP added.
Expressing his happiness over the reduction in crime rate during this year, the SP thanked the people for their cooperation to the efforts of the district police in protection of law and order. Pointing out that number of filing FIRs was increased this year compared to last year, he attributed it to the filing of FIRs on all the complaints received from the people.
