Khammam: Anganwadi Workers Union district president P R Devi on Tuesday gave a call to all Anganwadi workers to join the movement against privatisation of ICDS.
A meeting was held at the Municipal Office Park in which the Anganwadi district unit leaders and workers participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Devi alleged that both the Central and State governments were trying to privatise ICDS along with reducing the number of Anganwadi centres.
The State government already started taking steps to remove some of the Anganwadi workers by increasing their salaries, she pointed out.
Devi demanded the withdrawal of G O: 14 and 17, issued by the State government, quoting them as against to Anganwadi workers.
She urged all the Anganwadi workers to participate in large numbers in the national-level meeting of the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union to be held in Hyderabad from January 7 to 10, to make it a big success.
