Nizamabad: District Collector Yogita Rana on Saturday directed the officials of the district to take stringent action against the field staff if they fail to implement various women and child welfare, medical and health schemes in the district.

Addressing a review meeting with various medical and health, Welfare and DRDA officials at Collectorate in the town, Rana expressed her unhappiness over the tardy implementation of the Mother and Child Health Protection Schemes in the district.
The District Collector said that the infant and maternal mortality rates have risen in the district. But the Anganwadi workers, ANM’s, Health workers, field level staff were neglecting their duties, while the Mandal, Division and District level staff were not monitoring their activities properly, she lamented.
Rana said only 90 percent of pregnant women have utilised the Aarogya Lakshmi schemes during the last six months while 236 infants and 16 pregnant women died at the time of delivery. The Medical and Health Department was not identifying and registering the names of the pregnant women. It was below 70 percent in many mandals,she added and found fault with the Medical and Health department in this regard.
To prevent the deaths of pregnant women and infants, the District Collector Rana advised the Medical & the Health and the welfare departments to work with unity she said that she would again conduct a district level meeting with community health officers, ICDS, CDPO’s, Supervisors, IKP APM’s; on January 12. She decided to setup a monitoring system at village level with village level staff and include the Self Help Groups Members and Community Coordinators. DMHO Dr. Venkat, ICDS Project Director Ramulu, DRDA PD Venkatesham, IKP DPM Sandhya and others were present.
