Minister for Information Technology and Panchayat Raj K T Rama Rao on Saturday launched first-of-its-kind e-vehicle insurance facility here along with Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy and officials. The e-vehicle insurance will help vehicle users avail of the facility on mobile phones for immediate registration.

Hyderabad: Minister for Information Technology and Panchayat Raj K T Rama Rao on Saturday launched first-of-its-kind e-vehicle insurance facility here along with Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy and officials. The e-vehicle insurance will help vehicle users avail of the facility on mobile phones for immediate registration.

Speaking on the occasion, the IT Minister said the accidents were turning fatal for the vehicle users and the new e-vehicle insurance facility would address the problem. He said Telangana was the first State to introduce e-vehicle insurance facility in India.

“The new e-vehicle insurance would prevent vehicle users from making rounds to the offices. IT, Transport and Police wings made this facility in coordination with IRDAE,” Rama Rao said.
Further, he asked the RTA officials to provide Registration Certificate (RC) and driving licence also through electronic method and help avoid inconvenience to the people.
Rama Rao also called upon the owners of vehicles to get insured their vehicles for safety and security. There were a huge number of vehicles plying in the twin cities without insurance facility, he observed. “e-vehicle insurance introduced by the TRS government will definitely help the vehicle owners to benefit,” KTR hoped.
Meanwhile, Mahender Reddy said the State government was in favour of bringing every facility to the doorsteps of the people. The vehicle owners should get the e-vehicle insurance facility through mobile for immediate registration, he added.
