Hyderabad: Thousands of party workers thronged Gandhi Bhavan, along with GHMC election aspirants, for show of strength, during the meeting of division leaders on Sunday.

A large number of white-clad leaders and their followers raised slogans, eulogising their division leaders and held flexies and banners as the State leadership invited applications from the candidates from Monday. The meeting was presided over by TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.
Addressing the gathering in Prakasam Hall, TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy held that the Congress which had won the previous elections remained strong at division level and the presence of thousands of workers vindicated it.
He described the survey reports highlighted by media as bogus and blamed the TRS for planting wrong information with the intention of impacting city voters. He also claimed that the media houses were coerced by the TRS for acting in its favour.
Uttam Kumar Reddy called upon the division level leaders to come up with the names, which can ensure the Congress a solid win. After holding division and constituency level meetings, the party would hold padayatra in the coming days, he said.
CLP leader K Jana Reddy called upon the division leaders to teach a lesson to the TRS, which continued to conspire to weaken the Opposition in the Assembly. He said that the leaders should highlight the development made during the Congress regime, while campaigning for GHMC elections.
Speaking on the occasion, leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir criticised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for reducing the meaning of development to laying of foundation stones.
MPs V Hanumantha Rao, Gutha Sukender Reddy and Nandi Yellaiah, former Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, former Minister M Mukesh Goud, Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav, Mahila Congress State president, Nerella Sharada were also present.
