Khammam: The higher officials of the ‘Central Rights Team’ visited Kothagudem on Tuesday for conducting a survey to establish an airport in the region.

As the Telangana State government wanted an airport to be set up in the fast developing industrial areas of Kothagudem and Palvancha regions, the members of the Central Rights Team conducted a survey to explore the possibilities of establishing an airport in the region.

According to the reports, after inspecting the regions, the team was convinced that conditions prevailing here were favourable for the construction of an airport.

The higher officials of the Central Rights Team met the Kothagudem MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao at his camp office in Lakshmidevipalli village where the MLA apprised them about the conditions prevailing in the region for the establishment of an airport.

He also told them about the famous Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple in Bhadrachalam which was very near to Kothagudem region along with some big organisations like Heavy Water Plant, Nava Bharat, KTPS and Singareni Collieries Private Limited. With so many organisations in the region, an airport becomes essential, he said.

The MLA said that the Kinnarasani sanctuary would be developed into a wonderful tourist hub in near future. At Kothagudem crossroads, the Haritha Hotel would be constructed for the sake of tourists at a cost of Rs 23 crore. A Central Battalion was also sanctioned at Kothagudem and the construction works were already being taken up in the Chantakondamandal, he informed them.

MLA Venkat Rao also assured the Central team that the officials of the police and revenue departments would extend their cooperation for conducting a total survey for establishing the airport in the Kothagudem region. The Central Rights Team officers J SKataraia, Armaan Saifi, Abbas Kumar, Nagaraju DSP BSurendar Rao, Tahsildar Ashok Chakravarthi and Circle Inspector Rajagopal were present.
