Residents from over 20 colonies including office bearers come together to conduct a dharna at Railway Employees Colony in Bolarum recently. The residents were protesting against G Krishna Reddy, an agriculturist who is illegally mining groundwater from Mota Bavi and selling the same for commercial activity for over one year.

Midhun, president and Gopala Krishna, founder president of ARK Homes in a joint statement, said, “The colony residents are the victims of unethical trading of groundwater, which has led to acute shortage of water here.”

However, after intervention of HMTV and The Hans India, G Venkat Reddy realised the seriousness of the issue and agreed to stop the illegal activities. He also promised to the respective office bearers and the members of the colonies that he is ready to cooperate with everyone on the matter.
