Citizens prefer cabs over autos for transit
Gone are those days when people had to come out to the roads waiting for an auto rickshaw to transit from locations. The ‘cab’ services have grown over time and are already sweeping the local transportation segment in the city.

The ‘cab’ services have grown over time and are already sweeping the local transportation segment in the city. With affordability, comfort and security as their USP, national level cab services like Ola, Yatra Genie are making most of the available opportunities in Vijayawada.
The number of cab users in the city is increasing over time. With similar or affordable fare price when compared to the three wheeler hiring vehicles, people are choosing to take cabs to destinations which bring comfort that an auto rickshaw cannot. Besides this, booking a cab is easier with just a click or swipe in the smartphones unlike how one has to interact with auto drivers for a cutting deal.
P Sushma, a house wife who is a frequent cab user says, “The process of booking a cab is easy. We need not go out to the road and wait for an auto that comes in the right fare. Nobody runs on meter in the city and with similar fare price, cabs offer comfort. Whenever we got out to market with family or to visit anybody we are looking for a cab which reaches in just 10 minutes without having to guide for address.”
“These services of cabs are provided with utmost safety for passengers who can share the route tracking link with anybody and to anywhere. The drivers are trained for quality service once they are taken into partnership. The important thing in this business is that the organisation does not own any vehicle or drivers. The drivers or owners of cabs can work at their feasible point of time,” said one of the spokesperson from corporate affairs of Ola Cabs.
He further added that the response in tier 2 cities is very good and is growing at a faster pace. Usually the services were frequent to Airport and Railway Station but now, there are also bookings for internal pick and drop services. The customer base is expanding by day as business class of people and employees are visiting outskirts of the city, where development is witnessed on all fronts.
