Dr L Umaa Venkatesh, founder of Mytrey’s Pulse Balancing has been practicing acupuncture for the past 20 years. She uses a special technique called “pulse balancing” in her treatment procedure. “Pulse balancing is a single needle therapy and uses a holistic approach where the five elements in human body are balanced to remain healthy,” elucidates the doctor.

“The universe (Macrocosm) and we humans (Microcosm) are all made up of the five elements, commonly known as the “pancha bhoothas”. These are fire, earth, air, water and wood. Universal energy flows into the human body and travels through certain inconceivable paths know as meridian,” she explains.

“When energy doesn’t flow properly to any one of five elements it leads to a disease in the human body. This imbalance reflects in our pulse. The naadi is diagnosed and when a single needle is administered to the energy centre, the corresponding organ gets rejuvenated. This is known as pulse balancing,” she adds.

Pulse balancing improves concentration, memory and creativity in children and ensures a healthy generation for the society; hereditary diseases are kept at bay when pulse is balanced at young age.Regular balancing of the five elements prevents chronic diseases, such as diabetes, kidney failure, BP, heart problems, arthritis, asthma, menstrual disorders, hormonal disorders and infertility. It also helps in mental disorders like depression.

Speaking on the benefits of pulse balancing, the doctor says, “When this treatment is given from infancy, children grow into conscientious individuals. When the five elements are balanced, a person becomes a centre of positivity and is capable of uplifting his surroundings.” Dr L Umaa Venkatesh conducts regular medical programmes in slums and corporation schools where, she offers free treatment to the poor.
