Cherial / Gajwel: Governor E S L Narasimhan on Wednesday inspected the ongoing Mission Bhageeratha works at Komuravelli under Cherial mandal in Warangal district.During his brief visit to Komuravelli he examined the progress of overhead balancing reservoir. He described Mission Bhageeratha as a noble project taken up by State government. It was intended to provide safe drinking water to rural poor.

He interacted with the officials and expressed happiness over the pace of work. The Mission Bhageeratha Chief Engineer Suresh Kumar explained to the Governor that efforts were being made to provide drinking water to 704 habitations in 11 mandals of the district by April 30.

Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal, Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Padma, MP B Narasaiah Goud, MLA M Yadagiri Reddy, district Collector Vakati Karuna, rural SP A K Jha, Jangaon Revenue Divisional Officer Venkat Reddy, RWS Superintendent Engineer Ramu Naik and others were present.

Bureau report from Gajwel adds: : Predicting that every house in Telangana State would be supplied with adequate drinking water in two or three years, Narasimhan said the Mission Bhagiratha was the well-intended scheme initiated by the State government. The Governor Inspected the first phase of Mission Bhagiratha works in Gajwel- Dubbak segment at Komatibanda on Wednesday.

Hoping that the first phase works in three segments would be completed soon, he expressed his desire to participate in its inaugural ceremony as well. He said he would be touring other districts to inspect the works being carried out as part of the scheme.

Observing that surviving without food for a few days was possible but not without water, he said that it was the primary responsibility of any government to provide safe drinking water to people.He said that steps were being taken to ensure speedy completion of the project and felt there was a need to accelerate the implementation process.

Principal Secretary S P Singh, ZP CEO A Varshini, RDO Muthyam Reddy, GUDA Officer Hanumantha Rao and others were present at the programme.
