Karimnagar: District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad appealed the people for their support to the administration for early completion of irrigation projects by donating lands.

She organised a meeting with the residents of various villages being inundated in the projects at the Collectorate conference hall here on Thursday. On the occasion, she finalised the compensation price for the lands being acquired for the construction of canals.

She has fixed Rs 7 lakh per acre of land to be acquired for the construction of main canal in Upparmalyala of Gangadhara Mandal and Rs 6.50 lakh per acre being acquired to dig distributaries. Rs 4.7 lakh was fixed for one acre of land in Kovvuru of Bheemadevarapalli mandal, Rs 5 lakh in Bheemadevarapalli mandal headquarter and Rs 4.20 lakh in Sanugula of Chandurthi Mandal.

Informing that compensation was fixed only for lands, addition amount for borewells, wells, pipelines and other structures would be paid by negotiating with the departments concerned. Children of the families, which donate land for the projects, would be provided job opportunity under self-employment scheme.
