The first State level Fruit and Flower Expo 2016 by the Haritha Priya Plant Lovers Society is going to be organised from January 24 for three days at Funtimes Club near Teachers’ Colony in the city. Speaking to the news persons at Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry here on Friday, president of Haritha Priya Plant Lovers Society Thotakura Akhilandeswari Rani said that the expo is one of its kind that is aimed to promote gardening and bringing up plants at home as a pass time for young and adults.

Various competitions have been planned to engage every interested plant lover to take part in the event. Japanese flower decoration art Ikebena, Bonsai variety of fruit bearing and flower bearing plants, nurseries from Kolkata, Bangalore and Kadiyam are special attraction of the show, she said.

Minister for Agriculture and Horticulture Prathipati Pulla Rao, city Mayor Koneru Sridhar and others will inaugurate the event on January 24 while Chief Minister Chandrababu Niadu will visit the expo during the valedictory on January 26, added Akhilandeswari Rani.

Agri Horticulture Society of AP secretary K Pundarikakhudu, executive member of the Haritha Priya Society T Mohan Chand, Secretary Siripurapu Nehru and others were present during the meet.
