KCR urges Centre to extend MMTS to Yadadri
The State government on Friday urged the Centre to extend MMTS service to Yadadri (Yadagirigutta) from Ghatkesar, on the city outskirts.
Hyderabad: The State government on Friday urged the Centre to extend MMTS service to Yadadri (Yadagirigutta) from Ghatkesar, on the city outskirts.

- He explains that Yadadri is being developed on the lines of TTD and there is a growing number of pilgrims to the temple
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, in a letter addressed to Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu, appealed to the latter to take an initiative for extending the MMTS train facility.
The State government, he said, would share two-thirds of the cost for the project while the Centre bear one-third. He urged the Minister to make an allocation in Railway Budget for 2016-17 for the project.
According to preliminary estimates, the extension of MMTS train service to Yadadri would cost Rs 330 crore. Of it, the State government has come forward to bear Rs 220 crore and urged the Railway to allot Rs 110 crore.
The Chief Minister stated that Yadadri temple has a railway line passing nearby with a halt station at Raigir on the Secunderabad-Kazipet section.
The MMTS services in and around Hyderabad city have become very popular and currently phase II of MMTS is under execution, he said.
The Chief Minister’s letter has assumed significance as the second phase of the MMTS services are set to be completed. The services will be extended up to Ghatkesar, 21 km from Secunderabad Station by2016-17 financial year.
It can be further extended by 32 km from Ghatkesar to Raigir by laying a third railway line. The Chief Minister also explained to the Minister that the extension of the MMTS service would help growing number of pilgrims to Yadadri.
The State government had already allotted 2,000 acres to Yadadri Temple Development Authority to develop the Yadadri temple on the lines of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, he said.
