Left parties burn Dattatreyas effigy

Khammam: The left parties CPI (M), CPI-ML (ND) had burnt an effigy of the Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya in front of R&B Guest House demanding immediate action against the persons who were responsible for the suicide of the Vemula Rohith of University of Hyderabad (UoH) here in Khammam on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, CPI-ML (ND) district leader A Venkateshwarlu said, "All the incidents which had taken place in the Hyderabad Central University on the students must be considered as criminal acts and the government must take immediate action on the persons who are responsible for such incidents. Rohith’s suicide is not a suicide; it is the murder which is done by the Central government."

He asked the political parties to stop playing cheap politics in the name of caste and religion in the universities. CPI (M) district leader Y Srikanth, Vikram, B Yakaiah, T Vishnu Vardhan, N Ramesh, M A Jabbar, B Venkat Kumar, the CPI-ML (ND) leaders S K Babu, G Beemaiah, T Ramu, Shanti Kumar, G Ramaiah, C H Pullaiah and K Srinivas and PDSU leaders Sharath, Viplav Kumar, Jhansi, Swarupa and Mamatha were present along with others.

VC’s effigy burnt. The representatives of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) on Friday had warned the leaders of the BJP, ABVP and RSS to stop provoking the students and playing cheap politics with their lives in the name of caste and religion. They burned an effigy of the Vice-Chancellor Appa Rao here at Saritha Clinic Centre in Khammam on Friday. The SFI leaders also burned the effigies of BJP leaders accusing them responsible for Rohith’s suicide.
