The first regional conference of the Hyderabad chapter of South Asia ‘Students for Liberty’ held at the Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI) on Sunday had more than 120 people along with 10 representatives from the organisation, who took part in the conference.

Members spoke on a plethora of topics set under the theme, ‘Liberty and Modern Economics’. Javed Shansudin, regional director SFL, said, “This is high time we need to stop following the outdated economics and move towards modern economics where there is more of individuality, liberty, freedom and free market without regulations.

Most people are not aware of the modern economics, following which can lead to a future tomorrow.” The other topics discussed were Entrepreneurship, Advancing Liberty through Public Interest Litigation and Corruption in Government Services. The programme manager at SFL, A Kiran Reddy shared his view on the topic ‘Empowering students all over the World’.

“People should respect the process of anything that is manufacturing. Though we buy a pen at a cost of Rs 10, there are millions of people around the world who are involved in the process,” he said. “In our country, monopoly is followed by public sectors, rather than private sectors. People lack confidence and wait for the government to initiate anything.

Our intention behind holding such conferences is to provoke individuals to stand up on their own, who can serve as a key point in the country’s development,” he added. Speaking on ‘Why you should be an Objectivist’, Sriram Karri, author and columnist shared, “I’m an objectivist because it is a moral system founded on reason and compatible with my dignity as a human being.”

He added, “I stand to fight for moral capitalism because liberty and free markets alone can create a fair and free society.” Students for Liberty, is an international nonprofit organisation, run entirely by and for students. It is dedicated to supporting pro-liberty students and student groups through training, academic and physical resources and a network of likeminded peers and academics.
