Medak: Minister for Irrigation and Marketing T Harish Rao on Monday lambasted at the Opposition for trying to lure the voters despite failing to develop Narayankhed and other places during their regime. The Opposition parties had no moral right to seek votes in the by-poll as they failed to develop the area, he said. Harish Rao along with Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy accompanied TRS candidate M Bhupal Reddy to file his nomination for Narayankhed by-poll.

Later addressing a public meeting, Harish Rao said during the past six decades of rule, the Congress and the TDP did not develop the State and instead made Narayankhed segment as Rayalaseema. He exhorted the people of the segment to defeat the Opposition that should lose deposits in the by-poll like in Warangal.

He alleged that during 60 years of rule they had failed to construct a market yard and failed to resolve the water problem in the area and set up only 20 sub stations in the area. The TRS set up 11 sub stations in just two months besides setting up a market yard at a cost of Rs 14 crore and sanctioned Rs 172 crore for roads development and a 150-bed hospital, the Minister said.

The TDP was going to be wiped out in the State and the people should be cautious in choosing their leader, he said. The TRS candidate should get mandate as he suffered jail term for the statehood, Harish stated.

Besides increasing pension to Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 from Rs 200 and Rs 300, the TRS is implementing Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak to help the poor families for the marriages of their girls. The government was also considering extension of the scheme to other poor communities, he said.
