In a swift move towards revival of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) factory in Adilabad district,  the State government on Monday appointed a consultancy firm to prepare a draft DPR ( Detailed Project Report) on requirement of funds, available assets and the condition of  the machines in the factory which was shut in 1998 due to financial crisis.

Backward Classes Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna held a meeting with the officials of Industries and the CCI here. The Minister said the government was committed to the revival of the factory as per the government order 28 issued in November 2014. The order said the sick industries were eligible to take advantage of benefits like subsidy in power tariff, reimbursement of stamp duty and VAT exemption on a par with the new green field projects.

The reopening of the factory will help provide direct employment to 1,500 people and another 5,000 indirect employment, Ramanna said. He convened another official meeting in February second week on the issue. Before it, a delegation from the State government would meet Union Minister for Industries Ananth Geete to seek Central help. Industries Secretary Arvind Kumar, Adilabad MP G Nagesh and CCI officials were
present.
