Report to poll duty by Feb 1: GHMC chief
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Monday ordered election staff to report to their respective offices by February 1.
Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Monday ordered election staff to report to their respective offices by February 1.
The GHMC has decided to deploy about 60,000 government staff from districts including, Medak, Warangal, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Rangareddy and Mahbubnagar on election duty to perform duties as presiding officers (PO) and assistant presiding officers (APO) for the ensuing GHMC poll.
In wake of this, the civic body Commissioner issued orders to all POs and APOs to report by 7 am on February 1. Meanwhile, Janardhan Reddy said that the GHMC has finished the printing of ballot papers with contesting candidates’ names and would be inspected on January 27.
The ballot papers would be inspected by deputy commissioners in presence of contesting candidates or their agents, he said. Janardhan Reddy announced that the GHMC has also decided to inspect the functioning of electronic voting machines on January 28.
