Hyderabad: Exhorting the youth to participate in the process of development, Governor ESL Narasimhan on Tuesday asserted that the government would provide corruption-free governance.

The Governor noted that the plan to irrigate one crore acres of crops by restoring lakes and to provide safe drinking water to every household under Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya respectively was getting fructified.

Unfurling Tricolour to mark the occasion of 67th Republic Day Celebrations conducted in grandeur at Parade Grounds on Tuesday, the Governor took salutes from various contingents and inspected the customary parade attended by the first lady Vimala Narasimhan.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was seen flanked by Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy and Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya in the colourful event.

Besides a host of dignitaries, Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiyam Srihari, Mahmood Ali, Finance Minister E Rajender and other Cabinet Misters and officials of Army, Air Force and Navy and various departments attended the function.

On the occasion, the governor remarked that despite challenges and constraints, the State made rapid strides in many sectors with concerted efforts and welfare agenda.

It brought accolades for its pro-poor programmes including two bedroom houses scheme, pensions and fine rice and others. He said the government was determined to cater to the needs of people on priority basis and push the economy on growth trajectory.

Besides involving youth in a big way in the development process, the government was providing jobs and going ahead to make Telangana a surplus State in power sector by producing 25,000 MW power by 2018, he said. Listing out various welfare schemes, he said inclusive growth was the mantra of the government to usher in a new era of welfare.

The government had been successfully implementing Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak, and security for women and girls by modernising police wing, he said and added that it sanctioned 66,000 houses for the poor including 400 to every Assembly segment and launched start-up hub with urban housing policy to social infrastructure needs of Hyderabad.

“We plan to encourage SC, ST entrepreneurs through TS PRIDE and initiated several mega industrial programmes in Hyderabad–Warangal industrial corridor and textile hub in Warangal to boost economy and enhance employment potential to youth.

Being employees friendly, our government offered 43 per cent fitment to staff and 44 per cent to RTC and are taking up recruitment drive through TSPSC, police and other wings,” the Governor said.

Narasimhan also elaborated all other welfare schemes taken up by the government. He distributed first prize to Madras Regiment, second prize to Telangana Sate Special Police and appreciation awards to NCC girls and Social Welfare Residential Educational Society.
