As many as 50 children who lost both their hands in various accidents were given LN-4 hands, by Sudheekshan Foundation at a programme held at a private venue in the city on Wednesday. MLA Gadde Rammohan, who participated in the programme appreciated the gesture of Sudhekshan Foundation in coming forward to help the victims of fate.

Speaking on the occasion, founder of the Sudheekshan Foundation Chigurupati Vimala said that they have conducted a survey on the victims from across Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts for the last six months and ordered for as many as 200 prosthetic hands worth Rs 16 lakh. The hands were manufactured in USA and are designed to enable the recipient execute small operations with them.

“We want to first provide assistance to children who lost both their hands. Every eligible candidate is given a hand now and will be given the other within another 10 days. Meanwhile, the rest 150 hands will be distributed to the eligible,” she said.

In association with Andhra Pradesh Disable Welfare department, Sudeekshan foundation has sponsored the cost of artificial hands and it can be noted that the foundation has distributed artificial limbs to the needy during the month of September in 2015.

Assistant director of the Disable Welfare department ADV Narayana Rao, former MP Chennupati Vidya, DTO V Sundhar, RTO Purendra, Superintendent of Engineer at Roads and Buildings K Seshu Kumar and others spoke on the occasion.
