ABVP to launch nationwide campaign
Seeking to counter flak it drew over the suicide of Dalit scholar Vemula Rohith Chakravarti, BJP\'s students’ outfit, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Wednesday announced a nationwide campaign to highlight its version of the sequence of events at the University of Hyderabad (UoH).

Hyderabad: Seeking to counter flak it drew over the suicide of Dalit scholar Vemula Rohith Chakravarti, BJP's students’ outfit, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Wednesday announced a nationwide campaign to highlight its version of the sequence of events at the University of Hyderabad (UoH).
The student body said starting from Thursday seminars, meetings and open debates would be organised in colleges and universities across the country over the issue. Vinay Bidre, the national general secretary of ABVP, alleged the issue between student groups have been turned into a Dalit and non-Dalit issue by politicians like AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
He said, "Our prime motto is justice has to be done to Rohith's family members. At the same time, we also need to know who provoked Rohith Vemula to take that extreme step," Bidre said. He also demanded that the judicial commission ordered by the Government should clear air on different versions about Vemula's caste.
