Hyderabad: The Telangana Government Doctors’ Association and Telangana Junior Doctors’ Association on Wednesday staged protests at various places including the Directorate of Medical Education office at Koti alleging injustice in the division of government doctors by the Kamalanathan Committee. The strike affected medical services at Gandhi Hospital on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, the doctors threatened to stop the emergency services at Gandhi Hospital from Thursday if the Directorate of Medical Education did not take necessary action in delivering justice to the doctors hailing from Telangana.

Around 50 doctors from Telangana started their protest by locking the main gate of Out Patient Block in Gandhi Hospital on Wednesday at about 11 am in protest against the report given by the Kamalnathan Committee in division on doctors for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The doctors alleged that out of 300 doctors working in Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad, over 70 percent of them hailed from AP, but the Kamalanathan Committee had given its report by allotting Telangana doctors to AP and vice versa.

Alleging that Director of Medical Education (TS) Dr M Ramani had given a false report to the Kamalanathan Committee about the nativity of doctors, they locked the OP gate and headed to the Office of Directorate of Medical Education at Koti and attempted to siege the office.

They entered the office and gheraoed her and asked her to immediately submit her resignation. The director, though tried to convince the doctors saying it was a tentative list given by the committee and final list is yet to come, the doctors did not calm down and demanded immediate solution.

The director told the doctors that she would discuss the issue with Principal Secretary Rajeshwar Tiwari and also with the Minister for Medical, Health and Family Welfare C Laxma Reddy.
