The students of  Madonna College for the Deaf were awarded undergraduate degrees at the fourth convocation ceremony held at the College in Gunadala here on Wednesday.

The students of Madonna College for the Deaf were awarded undergraduate degrees at the fourth convocation ceremony held at the College in Gunadala here on Wednesday. About 55 students who finished Bachelors in Commerce and a few pursuing Masters in the subject received their degrees from the Vice Chancellor of Krishna University Prof D Suryachandra Rao.

Addressing the gathering of students on the occasion, Suryachandra Rao called them ‘gifted’ and appreciated their efforts in completing under graduation with confidence and hard work. “With abilities that you are given, you can achieve more under right guidance.

Pursuing arts, which offer many skill based opportunities is ideal for students with disabilities. One should respect them for their courage and encourage them to pursue their interests,” he said.

Director of the Social Service Center Fr Muvvala Prasad, Programme coordinator of NSS Cell, Krishna University C M Vinaya Kumar, coordinator for Dalit Chamber of Commerce K V Ramana Rao, Provincial of Assisi Province, Keesara Sr Cedric Mary Rosary, principal of the College Sr Elizabeth Rani, superior Sr T Celine Mary and others spoke on the occasion.

Cultural programmes performed by the disable students stood out among the event. They coordinated well and performed a mime on ‘Save Water’ besides dancing to latest filmy songs. Mask dance, Western-Indo fusion dance, Club dance and etc were performed. Faculty, parents and school children of the Madonna Institute were present on the occasion.
