A team of doctors from Maxcure Hospitals in Madhapur performed a rare and critical surgery recently. Vishnu (aged about 34 years), a patient from Old City complained of gradual onset of breathlessness. It was observed that he had low blood pressure of 90/60 mm Hg.

The 2D echocardiography revealed a dilated right side of heart with a large clot. The contrast computed tomography pulmonary angiography showed large thrombi in both pulmonary arteries. The doctors consisting of Cardio Consultant, Dr Pankaj Jariwala, Cardio Thoracic surgeon, Dr Krishnaprasad and Cardio Thoracic Anesthetist, Dr Laxman S debunked the RV thrombus with pulmonary embolectomy with endarterectomy.

This is a rare and critical surgery that carries high risk of death during or after procedure. Attending in proper time is most important in this surgical processure and delay may cause the patient to collapse. The patient is reported to be stable and 2D Echocardiography showed immediate reduction of right ventricular pressure to 35 mm Hg with reduction of right heart size.
