Reopen Nizam Sugar Factory, demands T-JAC chief Kodandaram

Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) Chairman Prof Kodandaram on Wednesday demanded the State government to immediately take over the Nizam Sugar Factory  or the Nigam Sugars Deccan Ltd (NSDL) and Nizamabad Co_operative Sugar Factories (NCSF) and run them like public sector undertakings.  

Nizamabad: Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) Chairman Prof Kodandaram on Wednesday demanded the State government to immediately take over the Nizam Sugar Factory or the Nigam Sugars Deccan Ltd (NSDL) and Nizamabad Co-operative Sugar Factories (NCSF) and run them like public sector undertakings.

Participating in a round-table conference on NSF and NCSF in the town on Wednesday, under the aegis of the Telangana JAC with various political parties, voluntary organizations, NSF, NCSF workers unions and Farmer’s Associations at TNGO’s in the town, Prof. Kodandam said that the sugarcane grown in this areas would bring profits to the farmers. Bodhan was famous for sugarcane production and this area, farmers have been growing sugarcane for the last few decades, he added.

Prof Kodandaram said that the TRS leaders should honour the promise that made to the farmers during the 2014 elections that the NSF factory would be taken over by the government if it came to power. The government should reopen the sugar factor TJAC chairman added.

He said if the government reopens the NSF factory, some other sugar factories would also come up in this area in future and the farmers would get profits through them Prof Kodandaram said, that farmers and workers should fight till the factories were reopened.

CPI-ML(New Democracy) State Secretary V. Prabhakar, TJAC District Convener Gopal Sharma, TNGO’s District President Gaini Gangaram, JAC leader Bhaskar, NSF & NCSF Workers and Farmers Association leaders participated in the conference.
