Celebrating the 92nd birth anniversary of eminent artist Dr Kondapalli Seshagiri Rao recently, a colloquium was held in the city by the Kondapalli family and Department of Painting, College of Fine Arts, JNAFAU. 

Celebrating the 92nd birth anniversary of eminent artist Dr Kondapalli Seshagiri Rao recently, a colloquium was held in the city by the Kondapalli family and Department of Painting, College of Fine Arts, JNAFAU.

On the occasion, KV Ramana Chary, Advisor to Government of Telanagana; well-known artists Laxman Aelay, Anand Gadapa and others spoke on relevant topics. The event was inaugurated by KV Ramana Chary, who spoke elaborately about the significance of Dr Kondapalli Seshagiri Rao’s art.

Neeharini Kondapalli, biographer and daughter-in-law of Seshagiri Rao spoke on his life and works. Laxman Aelay elucidated the contribution of Seshagiri Rao towards Nakashi scroll painting of Telangana. Anand Gadapa, who presently teaches in JNAFAU, discussed about the lapses in mainstream art writings.

Nirmala Biluka, a research scholar studying in English and Foreign Languages University discussed about the portrayal of woman in visual arts and women in Seshagiri Rao’s paintings too in particular. BV Paparao, Advisor to Government of Telangana and B Narsing Rao, well-known filmmaker were also present. Mamidi Harikrishna, Director, Dept of Culture gave away the Kondapalli Student Excellence Award to VV Srinivas, a BFA final year student.
