Here’s some good news for women entrepreneurs. Swashakthi SMART, an NGO that works in the field of entrepreneurship, in collaboration with ni-msme (National Institute for micro, small and medium enterprises) initiated the programme ‘Training of Trainers on Entrepreneurship Development (ToT-ED).

The programme is aimed to sharpen the talent and providing training in all aspects of entrepreneurship development for women. Sponsored by Mo.MSME (Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises), the programme is being run from January 22 to February 2. And, the idea is to train graduates, volunteers and job holders on entrepreneur skills and thereby teaching rural women to help them have their own livelihood.

Speaking to the CityTAB, Madhavi Sasanakota, training head and founder of Swashakthi SMART said, “The ten-day training was conducted at Community Hall in Anandnagar, where more than 32 expert faculties from various fields attended and conducted sessions for the participants.”

Anitha Reddy, volunteer at Swashakthi SMART and the programme coordinator said, “I feel privileged to be a part of this programme. I hail from Medak, where most tribal people reside. All of them are dependent on loans from banks and most of them are not educated.”

“My intention of attending this training is to bring a change in these people’s lives, providing them an opportunity to stand on their own,” she added. Tandas, a group of tribal people in Medak District usually do mirror works on garments.

“I wanted to learn everything first and teach them during my weekdays. I was aware of only the sales part previously when coming to marketing skills. Earlier, my job did not support me to get trained in entrepreneurship skills, nor spend time to train rural people. “Now, the training programme is providing me an opportunity to help these women sharpen their skills,” she shared.
