Tapering coal linkages have become crucial for Telangana as it is facing a power shortage. The Chief Secretary, Dr Rajiv Sharma, had earlier brought this issue to the notice of the Centre and sought its help to tide over the crisis but all that it is getting is positive responses but not positive action on ground.

New Delhi: A seven- member official delegation from Telangana State, interacted with the NITI Aayog officials here on Thursday to discuss 18 issues pending with the Centre. Led by Pradeep Chandra, Principal Secretary of Finance, Arvind Kumar (Industries), B Venkatesam (Tourism),B P Acharya, (PLanning), Dana Kishore (Housing), Prabhakar Rao (CMD Genco), G R Reddy (Financial Advisor), Ramachandru Tejawat, Special Representative of the Government at New Delhi and Sashank Goel, Resident Commissioner of Telangana, met NITI Aayog, vice-chairman, Arvind Panagariya and others to seek early resolution of the same.

Among the issues discussed today were Coal linkage for Kakatiya Stage - II, Allocation of coal linkage for Kothagudem Stage - VII, sanction of coal linkage for upcoming thermal projects, allocation of natural gas for 2,100 MW Karimnagar Gas based power project, allocation of natural gas for 1,000 MW Shankarpally Gas based project, Yadadri Thermal Power Station, Bhadradri Thermal Power Staton, Manuguru, Khammam district, Tadicherla-I Captive Coal Block and Godavari Valley Coal field Open cast Coal Mine, Karimnagar district. This apart 12 more issues are also pending with the NITI Aayog so far.

These are: development of Kaloji Kala Kendram at Warangal, development of Telangana Kala Bharati at Hyderabad, Aga Khan Trust for Culture Site Museums and Landscape restoration at Qutub Shahi Tomb Complex-Heritage Park, CST compensation for the loss of revenue due to reduction of rate of Central Sales Tax from 3 per to 2 per cent up to 2014-15, restructuring of Centrally sponsored schemes, relaxation of FRBM limits, non-release of 13th Finance Commission Grants, Lower Borrowing Limits fixed for 2014-15, selection of beneficiaries, payment disbursement through Awaa Soft.
