Hyderabad: Osmania University Joint Action Committee for Social Justice alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has time to go for shopping but not to visit the University of Hyderabad and enquire about the death of a student.

The students JAC (Social Justice) from OU on Friday called for ‘Chalo CM camp office’ and tried to lay siege to the camp office in Begumpet demanding the State government that they should take immediate action against the persons who were responsible for the death of Rohith Vemula, the research scholar who committed suicide at UoH.

The JAC said that the Chief Minister was only worried about the people of upper class communities and does not care about the backward classes and minorities. “He promises safety and security to settlers, but he cannot promise Rohith’s mother who stays in Uppal.

It has been 13 days since the death of the research scholar and the government has turned blind eye over the issue,” they alleged. They also said they would work for the defeat of Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Bharatiya Janata Party in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.

About 35 students from OU JAC (SJ) and AISF were detained by the police and foiled their attempt. They were all shifted to Amberpet and Punjagutta police stations and were later set free.
