Hyderabad: Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao requested the State Election Commission (SEC) to probe into the number of cars and other vehicles that were being used by TRS in their election campaign, here on Saturday.

He alleged that the ruling party was using huge number of vehicles to mobilise people. He said he had taken several of such instances, in which the ruling party has allegedly violated the model code of conduct, to the notice of the Commission.

In a letter addressed to SEC, the Congress leader questioned if the ruling party had obtained prior permission to ply such a large number of vehicles and whether the same has been accounted for. He claimed that people were being moved in 50 to 60 DCM vans to the election meetings which were being addressed by the State IT and Rural Development Minister KR Rama Rao and MP K Kavitha.

He maintained that people were being brought from various districts as hardly any local person was attending the TRS meetings. “This has become a menace and resulting heavy traffic jams. Though people complained to the police about this problem orally, they have become mere spectators. This is a clear violation of the Code,” he added.
