Tuni: State and East Godavari District Medical and Health Administration officials jumped into action to meet any eventuality following the Kapu Garjana at Tuni which was marred by violence leaving several people injured.

  • Area and District Hospitals asked to be on standby
  • Kapu Agitators didn't even let medical help to move near the spot
  • No causalities reported till late into the night

Till late in the night, six people were admitted to the Tuni Area Hospital. Speaking to The Hans India, the District Area Hospital Head Dr Ramesh said, “Three people from media and three police personnel have been admitted at the hospital.

However, they have not sustained any major injuries,” he added. Though there were reports of a constable belonging to Tuni Rural Police station having lost life in the incident, initially reports from the district medical officials said that constable was in critical condition, and there were no causalities so far.

However, efforts of the officials to move ambulances, doctors, men and material to the spot of violence could not materialise. “The situation was so volatile and the agitating Kapu Garjana activists were setting fire to all government vehicles that are going near to the spot,” said a senior official.

Meanwhile, the doctors and medical staff at Peeadpura, Pattipadu, and Pitapuram area hospitals were asked to be standby to extend treatments at any given point of time. Further, Ramesh said, “Orthopedic doctors available in Peddapuram have been asked to move to Pattipadu as it is on national highway and nearer to Tuni.

Similarly, superintendents of district hospital at Rajahmundry and Kakinada were also asked to be ready in case of any emergency,” he added. District Collector H Arunkumar has directed the medical and transport officials to extend any services to the injured, as well as the standards passengers at the Tuni Railway Station.
