Animal prints and those with a retro twist will dominate the wardrobes of tiny tots, predicts an industry expert.
Animal prints and those with a retro twist will dominate the wardrobes of tiny tots, predicts an industry expert. Rajat Kapoor, brand head of kidswear label Poney, has shared fashion trends for children and those that are suitable for all seasons this year:
- In spring, a lot of floral, tropical and oriental prints will be picked. Pleated dresses will rule in the girls' segment. Animal prints such as pony and dolphins will rule the market, while retro prints like polka dots will make a comeback. In terms of colours, corals, pinks, oranges and peachy shades will be the hues for spring.
- In summer season, ruffled styles and asymmetric cuts will be in vogue. Sailor stripes with contrasting solids will make a style statement. Jogger denims will make an interesting entry into boys’ wardrobes. The colours dominating the clothes will be heavily inspired by the sea with hues of indigo, white and turquoise.
- During autumn, checks, stripes and bright prints will be used in contrast with solids. Printed sweatshirts will be for girls and boys both. Androgyny is going to rule as maximum sweatshirts will be unisex. Pleated dresses with chunky belts for girls will be a huge hit. The colour palette will consist of grey, mauve, sky blue and pink hues.
- The winter season will be dominated by A-line woollen dresses paired with stockings for a stand out look. Fleece-lined cardigans, sweaters and multi-functional jackets with prints on both the sides will rule the season. Earthy shades consisting of sand-brown, wine, teal, cyan and mustard hues will be the in colours for children this year.
