Justice P V Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday stayed the arrest of three accused in the Vemula Rohith Kumar suicide case.  The judge admitted three writ pleas filed by Susheel Kumar, Krishna Chaitanya, General Secretary of the HCU ABVP and Nandanam Diwaker the Vice-President of BJP from RR district.

Justice P V Sanjay Kumar of the High Court at Hyderabad on Monday stayed the arrest of three accused in the Vemula Rohith Kumar suicide case. The judge admitted three writ pleas filed by Susheel Kumar, Krishna Chaitanya, General Secretary of the HCU ABVP and Nandanam Diwaker the Vice-President of BJP from RR district. Senior counsel D Prakash Reddy pointed out that the FIR did not connect the offence of suicide to the petitioners and that there was no case made out.

L Ravichander another senior counsel appearing for Krishna Chaitanya pointed out that even if the material stated in the FIR were taken as true, it did not amount to abetment of suicide. R Raghunathan Rao, the other senior counsel appearing for the BJP functionary, pointed out that the persons named in the FIR had only made representations to the appropriate authorities and that could not in any manner constitute an offence.

G Venugopal, the government pleader, placed the necessary records before the court and also informed the court that the FSL report of the suicide note of Vemula Rohit was still awaited. The judge made it clear that the investigation may go on but the petitioners would not be arrested. He also made it clear that the petitioners would cooperate with the investigation.
