Hyderabad: The Communist Party of India (CPI), Telangana unit on Tuesday condemned the attacks of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) on the leaders of various political parties in several divisions during the polling. The party alleged that the MIM was fearing defeat in the concluded Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election and trying to horrify other parties.

CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said that the MIM leaders were fearing the loss of their clout in the old city, hence, resorting to violence. “The AIMIM has once again shown its true colours by attacking BJP, TRS and CPI party workers in several divisions in GHMC limits on Tuesday.

How a lone party worker could attack the Congress MLC Mohammed Ali Shabbir, vandalise TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy’s vehicle without the instructions of their party chief Asaduddin Owaisi? How the party workers could mob the Deputy Chief Minister Mehmood Ali’s house?” he questioned. The attacks took place in the very presence of the party leader Owaisi, he added.

The rowdyism of MIM leaders in old city has reached its peak due to the soft attitude of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao towards them, the CPI chief held. The CPI demanded the State Election Commission (SEC) to conduct extensive probe into the violent incidents during GHMC election and punish leaders of any stature, if found guilty. The party also demanded the SEC to lodge criminal cases on violent leaders to avoid the repetition of such incidents in future.
