Hyderabad: On the lines of its massive scale programmes Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya, the Telangana government is mulling to launch another programme titled ‘Mission Health’ to improve the government hospitals on the lines of private hospitals and make the advanced diagnoses and treatments available to the commoners.

Under this mission, the government hospitals will be provided with high-end medical equipment and treatment services. “The main objective of this mission is to make the advanced medical treatments available in all the tertiary and district hospitals,” said the officials of the state Medical and Health department.

The proposals have been prepared and forwarded to the government for its consideration in the 2016-17 budget, they told The Hans India. The officials said, under this mission, speciality and super-specialty wings will be created additionally in the tertiary hospitals like Osmania General Hospital, NIMS and Gandhi hospital in Hyderabad and Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and General Hospital in Warangal and medical colleges located in the district headquarters.

All the government hospitals will be strengthened on the lines the private hospitals. With this programme, the government wants to reduce the financial burden of the people, who are presently incurring heavy costs on their medical needs and emergencies.

It also wants to cut down on its own bills that it is shelling out on the schemes such as Arogyasri and state government employees’ health scheme, once it has completed the upgrading of government hospitals under this scheme.
