A two day workshop on ‘Geospatial Technology for Academia of Botany, Zoology and Environmental Studies’ has concluded at Maris Stella College in the city on Wednesday. The workshop focused on applicability of the geographical information system in monitoring and managing the natural resources.

Deputy Director of Groundwater department Angatha Varaprasada Rao speaking on the occasion spoke about various methods on conserving water and the interrelation of Botany, Zoology in protecting natural resources.

Assistant professor in Environmental Sciences at Acharya Nagarjuna University Brahmaji Rao discussed about the importance of GIS and GPS systems to the academicians for research and teaching, at the workshop organised by the department of Botany in association with IIIT Hyderabad.

Assistant professor K Ramachandra Rao from IIIT, Hyderabad elaborated on the use of remote sensing technology in various fields. Principal of the college Sr C Rekha Mudartha, vice Principal Sr Inyasamma, Botany department Head C V L Karuna, faculty, research scholars and a few students were present during the workshop.
