Vijayawada cyclist wins Super Randonneur title
Sunder Ravella, member of Capital Cycling Club, had attained the ‘Super Randonneur’ title, after he completed the 600 kilometers brevets organized by the Hyderabad Randonneurs.

The title came his way after he completed the four events, 200 km, 300 km, 400 km and 600 km, all within the stipulated hours, in this calendar year of 2015-16. All those rallies were nominated events by Audax Club Parisen, an international body that sanctions such cycling events.
Sunder Ravella was the first person from Vijayawada to complete the ‘Super Randonneur’ title this calendar year. In an interaction with media persons on Thursday, Sunder Ravella said that Randonneuring is a non-competitive endurance cycling sport that originated in France but rode to popularity in India only in 2011.
It's called Brevet and Audax in the UK, Australia and Brazil. Here, participants have to finish a 200km cycling course in 13.5 hours, 300km in 20 hours, 400km in 27 hours and 600km in 40 hours in one brevet calendar year. The calendar year is from November 1, 2015 to October 30, 2016, he said.
"I would like to promote cycling, sports and adventure-related events and see more people from Vijayawada pedal for good health and fitness,'' says Sundar, who owes his brevet success to his family and friends.
The Capital Cycling Club chairman Dr K Satya Kumar said that club was always fore front in encouraging seasoned cyclists to take up endurance sports while motivating general public particularly women and youngsters to take up cycling as fun and safety fitness choice. The Capital Cycle Club President founder Dr Satya Koduru, Rakesh Chukapalli and member Hari Kishan was also present at the news conference.
