Hyderabad: Buoyed by the landslide victory of the TRS in the GHMC elections, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday declared that people’s agenda would be his agenda. KCR also announced that one lakh double bedroom (2 BHK) houses for the poor in the city would be earmarked in the 2016-17budget.

Addressing the press at Telangana Bhavan, the Chief Minister said Hyderabad people have high expectations on his government and it was reflected in the Greater Hyderabad elections. Based on the feedback given by his Cabinet colleagues and MLAs in the city, he said top priority would be given to the two double bedroom scheme for the BPL families.

Officials were already instructed to take necessary steps for the construction of one lakh double bedroom houses every year in the state capital, he said. Terming the mandate in the GHMC elections as historic verdict in the history of Hyderabad, the Chief Minister called upon his ministers and party leaders to shed the attitude of ‘arrogance and not to be proud’ and instead work hard with great humility as people had reposed faith in the government and party in the elections.

Earlier, the civic body elections witnessed fractured verdict. This time, Opposition parties could win in single digit and the TRS emerged victorious. He said voters rejected the Opposition parties’ false propaganda in the polls as they felt the historic necessity and need for the victory of the TRS for the development of Hyderabad. The Chief Minister suggested to Opposition leaders to stop mudslinging on his government and make constructive criticism only.

KCR reiterated that Hyderabad will be promoted as a ‘True Global City’ by developing infrastructure and basic amenities, including construction of two dedicated drinking water reservoirs and uninterrupted quality power supply to the city as promised in the party’s election manifesto.

To make available advanced medical facility on par with the corporate hospitals to the needy, KCR said two more general hospitals with 1000-bed capacity each will be set up in addition to Osmania and Gandhi hospitals and the ENT hospital bed capacity will also be increased to 1000. The new hospitals will come up at Kukatpalli and in the Old City areas.
