The city’s independent old school grunge/Indie band, The Tapes, rocked the audience at Hard Rock Café recently. After gaining worldwide popularity with their music video, ‘Cosmopolitan’ going to cities like Singapore, Sweden and South Africa, the band returned to perform at one of their favourite locations.

Their music video- Cosmopolitan was viewed all over the world, from Singapore to Sweden to South Africa, making them a force to be reckoned with. They have inspired by the legends themselves- Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Kings of Leon, and Oasis etc.

Band members Sauravtyagi (guitarist), Sri Hari (drummer), Pranav Kumar (vocalist), Abhay Krishna (bass) and Chaitu (guitarist) performed a few of their own compositions, which boosted the crowed with energy. Other songs they performed include titles like “Mama told me”, “BMW girl”, “Silk stocking”, “Caretaker heart breaker” and “Cosmopolitan” and “Pscyho crazy social”.

“In my opinion, Hyderabad’s music scene can be a lot better and people here are too heavy metal-oriented. So we have been trying to change things around a bit. Also, Hyderabad’s music scene is very seasonal and most of the gigs happen between December and March. So, we haven’t performed here for a while,” said Hari.

While it’s difficult for bands to measure their performances, each of them have a particular gig which is close to their hearts. “I can never forget our first performance at Hard Rock Café. It’s a venue where every musician aspires to play and the response was overwhelming,” said Prithvi, former member, of the band’s most memorable performance.
