Medak: The Congress, which is trying to retain the Narayan- khed seat in the by-poll has turned its ire against the district police. Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Damo- dara Raja Narasimha alleged that Medak’s Superintendent of Police Sumathi was acting like a TRS leader and going all out to support the ruling party during the campaign for the by-election.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, he claimed that the police were not only filing false cases against the Congress leaders but also using police vehicles for money distribution. He urged the Election Commission to conduct the by-election impartially.

The Congress fielded P Sanjeeva Reddy, the son of the deceased MLA P Kista Reddy’s in the fray, hoping to retain the seat. It is fighting a bitter battle against the ruling party. The polling will be held on February 13 and counting will be done on February 16.
