Hyderabad: Following the rout the Congress faced in the GHMC elections, the State party leadership appears nervous about its winning chances in the Narayankhed bypolls. The morale of the party activities has touched its nadir following surveys indicate clear-cut win for the TRS.

AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh’s campaign in Warangal byelection and GHMC election came as a morale booster for the party cadre. But the party leadership seems to be shy of inviting the AICC leaders for campaign in the Narayankhed bypoll.

The Congress leadership seems to be considering Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao as a powerful juggernaut thundering through the constituency. Apart from it, the Congress State leadership is bogged down in internal bickering.

The TPCC president has found himself in eye of controversy after sending text messages on social media that former Minister Danam Nagender will join the TRS on February 20. A section of the leaders are critical of the TPCC president’s action as it has dampened the spirit of the cadre.

Meanwhile, the Congress leaders, including former Minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy, Sabita Indra Reddy and MP Renuka Chowdary on Wednesday represented to the State Election Commission that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were tampered with during the GHMC elections.

Congress nominee in Narayankhed bypoll P Sanjeeva Reddy urged the Election Commission to employ “voter verified paper audit trail” (VVAPT) in the Narayakhed bypoll to ensure tamper-proof system.
