The book is published by Penguin Random house and is available at all leading book stores. It is also available on Amazon. The biography, ‘Havells - The Untold Story of Qimat Rai Gupta’, is a riveting narration by Anil Rai Gupta and captures the essence of his father’s momentous and eventful journey who started his career as an electrical trader in the bylanes of Chandni Chowk.

The unveiling of the biography was followed by an engaging and thought provoking panel discussion on ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation’. The panel had an in-depth discussion on the future prospects of start-ups, new entrepreneurs and innovation which was moderated by Pranjal Sharma, a veteran journalist.

On the occasion, Anil Rai Gupta, CMD, Havells India Limited said, “This biography is homage not only to my father but also to an extraordinary entrepreneur and philanthropist. I am sure it will inspire many generations of future entrepreneurs, not just in the country but across the world."

He added, "The book revolves around every risk that QRG took throughout his life to reach the pinnacles of success. I remember my father as a dreamer and a doer who had a spirit of adventure and unassailable belief. His energy and enthusiasm were always infectious and his sentiments, sacrifices and physical illness never came in-between the plans he had for Havells”.

Sharing his memories of QRG, Uday Kotak, Executive Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank said, “QRG always envisaged India to succeed and become truly a world leader. He also wished Havells to become one of the famous brands globally and always emphasised on the importance of professional management and having empathy for the people and society at large”.

The discussion concluded with how the family business needs to graduate from instinctive leadership to institutionalisation of organisation, yet not leaving behind the basic pillars, on which the organisation was created.
