As part of the Roman Catholic ‘World Day of the Sick’, the Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) organised a blood donation camp in Secunderabad on Thursday.

The camp was organised as part of the ‘Health and Healing’ medical camps CHAI has been organising from the past few days in four villages at Devar Yamjal, Mudfort, Thumkunta and Shivani Colony.

The camps covered general check up, blood pressure, diabetic screening, eye testing, gynaecological care and awareness on nutrition, hygiene and supplied free medicines where more than 300 people underwent check up at the respective centres.

The camps were organised on the theme, ‘Compassionate Care towards Mental Health’ in association with member institutions of CHAI that included the Christian Medical Association of India (CMAI), National Council of Churches of India (NCCI) and the Catholic Healthcare Networks of India.

Rev Dr Tomi Thomas, Director-General said, “The Year 2016 is going to be a memorable one for the Healing Ministry of the Catholic Church because of various meaningful celebrations taking place.

The year has been declared the “Jubilee Year of Mercy” by Holy Father that started on December 8, 2015, and will conclude on November 20, 2016. Holy Father has entrusted Jubilee year to Mary, Mother of Mercy.”
